The one thing we knew for sure we would get right is that people in 2015 would be nostalgic about the 1980s.вЂќ

We knew some stuff would be right, we knew some stuff would be wrong. We show that, and what are we doing? The same thing that Marty and Needles were doing! You know, weвЂ™re doing it on our computers and our tablets, not on our TV, but itвЂ™s not really any different. вЂњWe thought video conferencing, thatвЂ™s something people were talking about. Now, itвЂ™s a fascinating study of what the 1980s thought the current era would be. However, Gale sees the seriesвЂ™ continued success as a perfect mix of nostalgia, sci-fi, and excellent filmmaking that still resonates three decades later. Gale recently spoke with ScreenRant about the seriesвЂ™ lasting legacy, including the things they accidentally got right in the future. While ParadoxВ may have changed that timeline a little, ZemeckisвЂ™s original vision struck a chord when he released the sequels as different movies. As such, itвЂ™s no mistake that fans consider the films as classics more than thirty years after their release. The sequels we got were massive hits that are still lauded as one of the best trilogies of all time. However, the studio was unwilling to put that much money on such an ambitious project, and instead, they made it two movies, with a teaser trailer playing after II. Long before Lord of the RingsВ and Marvel events made blockbuster fun a three-hour experience, Paradox would have been one of the longest non-epics in history.

However, ParadoxВ may have been as big a hit despite the merciful change. Ultimately, the ambitious script took them both to the dystopian future and old west and consolidated them into two movies filmed back-to-back of one another. Paradox was an amalgamation of what eventually became Back to the Future IIВ and III. Because letвЂ™s be honest, sometimes life can be a little more difficult than what we might expect when weвЂ™re young,В starry-eyed and ready to take on the world.В But I do look around and am amazed at how myВ future has developed in unexpected ways.В Although there arenвЂ™t flying cars filling the skies,В computer technology and the internet has far surpassed what we thought the future might have been like in 1989.According to Stacker, when Zemeckis and crew returned to the set to film the first sequel, they did so under a name that does not immediately make people think of the first. I knew that my younger self would have wanted my older self to still have fun and continueВ вЂњgeeking-outвЂќ a little over the storiesВ I love.ДЄs iвЂ™ve grown, yeah вЂ“ IвЂ™ve learned more, and am a bit more world-weary than I was when I was a young teenager in those days. Which is a large part why I felt motivated to create a graphic for this fun milestone in pop-culture. I donвЂ™t think I really ever thought there would be flying cars and hoverboards, but I could identify with the excitement of things being different in the future вЂ“ as well as the thought of running into your older self and not being too happy with how you turned out. But with Back to the Future 2, I spent a lot of time thinking about the future, andВ what it might be like for me in 2015 вЂ“ which seemed an impossibly long time away in the late 80s and early 90s. With the first Back to the Future, I thought a lot about what it would be like to meet my own parents when they were teenagers. I think it had just about everything cool that youвЂ™d want in a time travel movie: traveling to a fantastic future, an adventure in aВ dystopian alternate reality, going back to the 1950вЂ™s to fix the past (and Marty having to be careful not to run into himself), and an awesome cliff-hanger ending! The movie, which came out in 1989, was an instant favorite and source for creative inspiration for me.

In the movie Back to the Future 2, Marty McFly travels with his girlfriend Jennifer Parker and Doc Brown from 1985 to Octoin order to help out their futureВ children. Everything in this animated gifВ was custom created in illustrator, and animated in photoshop.В I wanted to include the clock graphic in the background, as I once had a favorite shirt that had the DeLorean flying up through the middle of a similar clock graphic.
